Trex IPTV on Android TV, phones and tablets

The most flexible platform for this, and the one where good hardware pays off most visibly.

About 4 minutes 4 steps

Before you start

  • An Android device
  • Your Trex IPTV credentials

Allow the install

On Android TV the setting lives under Security and Restrictions; on a phone your browser will simply ask permission the first time. Either way it is a one-off.

Install the player

On a TV box use Downloader with the code from our Apps page. On a phone or tablet download the APK directly. Any Xtream-compatible player will also work — the credentials are the subscription, the app is only software that reads them.

Add the account

Enter the server, username and password. If your device supports it, choose Xtream over M3U: the incremental loading makes a large catalogue feel like a different product.

Check the decoder

A mid-range box or better decodes H.265 in hardware. A cheap one falls back to software, drops frames and throttles as it heats — which looks exactly like a network fault but is not. Test a 4K channel early.

Worth knowing

  • Choose Xtream over M3U where the player supports it; the catalogue loads far faster.
  • Check a 4K channel early to confirm the box decodes H.265 in hardware.
  • Use the Ethernet port if the box has one.
